Offering- a presentation
made to a deity as an act of religious worship or sacrifice; an oblation.
Sacrifice- the act of offering something to a deity in propitiation or homage especially the ritual slaughter of an animal or person.
KJV Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
In the Old Testament animals were sacrificed so that sin could be frorgiven. In the New Testament sacrifice is no longer necessary because Jesus died for our sins.
Genesis 8:20 And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord: and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offering on the altar.
1 Peter 1:19, 20 But with the percious blood of Christ, as a lamb without blemish and without spot:Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
